Job Overview:

Audio Visual Systems Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the Engineering Team to success and alignment within Diversified. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage cross functional teams motivating staff towards personal and company goals.

Engineering Manager provides mentorship and guidance to the team and holds accountability for all aspects of the group’s operation. Engineering Manager will also manage support escalations that may come from the Network Operations Center and delegate that out to design engineers as needed.

What will you be doing?

  • Time and Expense Approvals
  • Lead Weekly Team Huddles to obtain a pulse on the team’s workloads. Use this as a forum to provide group support and understand team challenges.
  • Understanding the team’s workloads and assigning Design Engineers to new projects as they are won.
  • Provide Sales Support to Account Executives as needed. This includes product recommendations and review of BOMs
  • Delegate or support project escalations.
  • Delegate or support service escalations that are sent out via the Network Operations Team.
  • Support engineering team with technical questions, recommendations, and mentorship
  • Support engineering team to make sure they have the tools and equipment to perform their jobs and duties
  • Support engineering team with knowledge and know-how to configure and set-up monitoring systems for digital media deployments as needed.
  • Making sure team is current on templated BOMs to ensure parts & pricing is accurate through the project life cycle
  • Attending client calls as needed
  • Support Sales Request of Mock-ups and Demos. Delegate to the larger design engineering team as needed.
  • Support team by researching upcoming trainings and offering time to attend manufacture trainings. This also include Manufacture Webinars and L&Ls

Complexity:

The Systems Engineering Manager works with the leadership teams, the Tech Ops Directors, Solutions Architects’, Sales Support Group and Sales Leadership on project resource assignment. This role is primarily in a post-sales management capacity, though there are times when the Engineering Manager will work on sales estimation and design efforts. The Engineering Manager will provide mentorship and guidance for the Engineering Team for larger more complex projects.


Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that may be met by an employee. Work will normally be performed within normal office conditions, warehouse and/or home office depending on location of the Engineering Manager. On occasions the employee may be exposed to construction site conditions. Employee will be responsible for their safety while on job sites and to comply with all safety regulations in place by the GC. Use of PPE is usually required on job sites. The employee can typically spend at least 50% of their time on their feet and be required to mobile around the construction site. The individual is regularly required to use keyboards, test equipment and controls required for SI installation projects. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth vision.


Travel:

Occasional travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required. Employee must possess a valid driver’s license in their state of residence. Employee will be required to use their own vehicle and will

be reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate. Local travel to job sites (within a 2 hour driving distance each way) will make up 90% usually but remote travel can be up to 30% of the job at times.


Safety:

  • Maintain and wear appropriate PPE as the job and tasks require it.
  • Ensure hazards are addressed and rectified in a timely manner.

What do we require from you?

Education/Certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associates/Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office 365
  • Certifications or training with at least one DSP platform (Biamp, QSC, Clearone, etc)
  • Certifications or training with at least one control system (Crestron, Extron, AMX, etc)
  • Other relevant certifications may be required or preferred based on the technology focus of the position.

Required/Desired Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • AVIXA CTS certification is required
  • 5+ years’ experience in technical management
  • AVIXA CTS-D is highly desired
  • A clear understanding of project phases Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design,
  • Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction and Commissioning.
  • A thorough, demonstrable understanding of the construction process, installation and integration as well as architectural and construction drawings and specifications.
  • Detailed oriented & Team leader
  • Exceptional time management skills with a track record for meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concise succinct messages
  • High level of problems solving and technical troubleshooting skills
