In this role, you will be responsible for the overall strategy development and link to the Business Plan (strategy/planning/operational balanced scorecard); establishment of measurable and achievable (Diverse Business Enterprise) DBE targets for AHM.

At Honda, our associates take pride in their responsibilities. A typical day as an Assistant Manager – Procurement Inclusion & Diversity (“PID”) will include:

  • Maximizing participation of small, local and minority business enterprises in contracts, professional services and goods and services in accordance with company direction and strategy
  • Development and management of means to achieve established goals, including devising independent methods and methods that work in collaboration with NA Indirect Procurement “NA “and other departments to increase compliance
  • Development of internal strategies and coordination to implement methods to achieve program objectives and monitor compliance
  • Development and management of vision, strategy and framework for daily activities including projects and plans; developing policies and programs; report progress of major activities through participation in meetings and periodic conferences
  • Ensure compliance with organization’s practices, procedure, and policies; prepares reports and summarizes activities
  • Provide advice and guidance for appropriate handling of bidder participation plans in cooperation with NAIP and Honda business units; development and implementation of surveys, studies, special projects and required activity/metrics reporting

 

  • Establishes and maintains contact with public and private organizations for the purpose of exchanging information and ideas
  • Analyze and monitor company and related agency goals, devise methods and procedures to increase compliance, collaboration, and active participation
  • Department Management to include the supervision of others and the oversight of annual budget and budget preparation, development of strategy and establishment of overall program direction
  • Establish and manage the annual department budget based on corporate compliance strategy and direction; participates in the goal setting process
     

 

 

We are looking for qualified people with diverse backgrounds and experiences, open minds, and a disciplined work ethic. To bring the future to Honda as a Assistant Manager – Procurement Inclusion & Diversity (“PID”), you must have: 

  • Undergraduate degree with coursework in Public Administration, Finance, Business, or a closely related field
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in Supplier Diversity purchasing activities to include partnerships with Supplier Diversity organizations and development of Corporate Supplier Diversity initiatives. 
  • Experience in the supervision of others and building effective relationships with people from diverse backgrounds at all levels of management
  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of integrated purchasing & financial systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with ability to communicate with all levels of management
