Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently looking for a Test and Evaluation Engineer to join their team at Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA. This position will be a part of Ground Based Interceptor - Integrated Product Team (GBI IPT), in support of the overall Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program.

This is a system that is operationally capable to defend the homeland against long-range ballistic missile attacks. The engineer will be part of a test team that is responsible for interpreting electrical and functional test requirements, developing and authoring test procedures, operating test consoles, analyzing detailed test data, and evaluating test results.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform work tasks in an operational missile defense complex or at operational interceptor launch facilities where system assets are subject to war fighter deployment.
  • Develop test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition needed to perform the test and minimize risk.
  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of test methods.
  • Identify solutions to complex problems and supports troubleshooting test, hardware, and software failures.
  • Participate in the test conduct and console operation for integration and test activities and also launch test activities.
  • Shadow certified test conductors and take direction from experienced engineers in learning missile and ground systems design and operation.
  • Generates and compiles test data prior to delivery to customer.
  • Performs functions as required to ensure calibration system readiness and data validity.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Supports development of test debrief material.
  • Participates in evaluation of test performance data.
  • Reviews test data for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer.
  • Alerts senior engineers of off-nominal data.
  • Prepares test reports for review.

This position requires an active <Secret> U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically 20% of the time.
  • 5 years of experience in flight test, laboratory testing, data analysis, instrumentation, system integration, and/or simulation.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years’ experience in integration and test of missiles, space vehicles

Typical Education/ Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
