The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Vertical Lift Division is seeking a Structural Design Engineer (Level 2) to support the V-22 Osprey program. Our team is focused on providing new design solutions and upgrades, supporting our main production line, our CCRAM modification line, and our customers in the field – the Marines, Navy, and Air Force, as well as the Government of Japan. Our team provides occasional support on programs across the enterprise, primary the Army’s CH-47, MH-47, and Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA), as well as the Air Force’s MH-139.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Creates drawing-based and model-based structural details and assemblies using CAD software for the V-22 Osprey.

  • Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.

  • Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

  • Works across engineering functions to ensure proper interface coordination and first time quality.

  • Coordinates with Operations, Quality, suppliers, and customer to investigation and resolve engineering corrective actions

  • Works under general supervision.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural or Civil Engineering

  • 1 year of experience in structural design

  • Experience with 3D modeling

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in aircraft structural design

  • CATIA V5 experience

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.


This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.


This position is for 1st shift.
