Job Overview:

Responsible for fulfilling the Quality Engineer position. In this highly visible role, the Quality Engineer will ensure the quality of the machine assembled at Nilfisk meet all customer expectations; quickly and effectively take action when non-conformances are found. Maintain the most recent interpretations of the quality system requirements and therefore ensure that documented practices meet the true interpretation of the quality management system standards. The person will partner closely with various cross functional team to enable operational success, ensure supplier corrective action and improve process & customer quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality Management System

  • Carry out internal product and process audits, (ISO, LPA)
  • Write product test procedures, work instructions, SOPs as required,
  • Contribute to develop and maintain for PFMEA/Control Plan,

Leadership

  • Support Quality Inspector on their daily activity
  • Lead the SAP Quality Implementation

New Product / Solution Development support:

  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products (NPI, NPD/NSD) or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements.

Supplier Quality support:

  • Support alignment between supplier capability and design requirements,
  • Support supplier corrective action responses are aligned with the Nilfisk corrective action process (SCAR - 8D) and response time goals,
  • Support to manage the Supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), DPPM (Defected Parts per Million).

Product Quality Assurance:

  • Take active part of continuous improvement activities,
  • Support quality Inspector on their daily activity,
  • Support change verification and implementation,
  • Manage incomplete or non-conforming machines, parts,
  • Ensure processes are in used to identify quality related assembly issues and drive corrective and preventive (CA-PA) action,
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards,
  • Identify root cause and drive corrective actions (CAR) cross-functionally with internal and external team members,
  • Verifies effectiveness of problem resolution by monitoring production performance after solution implementation,
  • Identifies control methods (Control Plan) for assembly processes by performing and updating PFMEAs (as applicable),
  • Ensure data capture and reporting systems for KPIs are used to allow the management of In-Process, Product Quality;
  • Ensure part inspection/verification completed in scope of New Solution Development, Engineering Change or Sourcing projects.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

MS or BS degree in Science, Manufacturing, Industrial, Automotive, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years’ experience of working in Quality Assurance,
  • Previous experience in a low volume – high mix, high complexity assembly/manufacturing environment, preferred

KNOWLEDGE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Knowledge in quality analysis tools such as 8D, SPC, PFMEA.
  • Experience in managing part certification processes and vendor quality measures.
  • Must have knowledge with Quality processes
  • Strong communication, presentation and team skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative
  • Able to lead and facilitate cross functional teams

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficient in use of MS Office software, Excel. Word, PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, SAP is preferred or LN Ban
