Overview:

The Associate Packaging Engineer will support a variety of packaging innovation & value engineering projects in support of the Product Marketing Team. The ideal candidate must have a basic knowledge of packaging commodity types (e.g. poly film, corrugate, paperboard, etc.), manufacturing processes and quality control to ensure product performance, food safety, and provide value to B.H. brand and customer. They will work closely with internal customers across multiple locations & functional areas and will work with external suppliers toward the successfully delivery of projects against businesses requirement.

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops and executes packaging qualification plans, including plant trials, new materials and continued quality control
• Challenges conventional thinking on packaging related subjects; implementing creative solutions to continuously improve business impact
• Identifies packaging related innovation, sustainability, cost savings, technology, material standardization, waste, and productivity/process improvement opportunities
• Other responsibilities as assigned including assisting in the operation of the Product Marketing Team (regulatory approvals, new supplier approvals, and administrative tasks)
• Strong exposure to CAD modeling software & 3D Printing to bring product concepts from ideation to commercialization.
• Coordinating / executing Packaging Test Plans and prepare design to increase efficiency and ensure effective transition of all designs into development process
• Influence and persuade cross-functional teams to collaborate on identified innovation opportunities

Education and Experience

• Previous CPG and/or agency, consulting, innovation, consumer product development experience
• 3+ years of direct, full-time work experience required
• BS degree in Packaging Engineering/Science or equivalent work experience
• Excellent skills in CAD Software, 3D Modeling and Prototype building
• Strong project management skills and cross-functional team experience
• Strong demonstrative leadership potential
• A passion for understanding consumer behavior and an ability to translate trends and insights into product ideas that uniquely satisfy unmet needs
• Can-do spirit with an aptitude in dealing with ambiguity facilitated by a penchant for creative thinking and problem-solving
• Ability to keep others engaged and accountable while delivering results flawlessly and on-time
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• A curiosity to learn about any and all parts of innovation (packaging, R&D, etc.) and the functions (operations, supply, etc.) that go into turning concepts into products
• Experience leading cross-functional and multi-disciplinary projects
• Excellent understanding of consumer insights and analysis to proactively develop, drive and manage innovation and portfolio design
