The Medical Affairs Strategy Associate Medical Director will provide medical support for Type 1 Diabetes and will be responsible for supporting the development of the medical strategy and medical plan as well as executing against the medical plan. This role will collaborate closely with cross functional groups to ensure that scientific and medical strategies are aligned with broader corporate needs as well as ensuring the voice of the patient and medical community is integrated into product strategies. This role will work closely with a cross-functional group that includes Commercial, Market Access, Global, International Medical Affairs organizations, GAPP and Corporate Communications, Legal, Compliance (OBIE), Regulatory, Research & Development, HRBP and Finance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the development of medical affairs plans, including Launch and Life Cycle Management plans

  • Contributes to the interpretation of scientific and medical data

  • Engage in development of evidence generation strategies in collaboration with cross functional partners in e.g. RWE, HEOR

  • Collaborates with the Global Scientific Communications team to support development and execution of aligned strategies/tactics to maximize scientific communication efforts

  • Provides scientific and medical input to study-related documents including clinical study-related publications

  • Performs/oversees medical/scientific training for medical, commercial, and other internal stakeholders

  • Effectively communicates scientific data through presentations and publications

  • Evaluates country/regional insights to be incorporated into global medical strategies and activities

  • Provides scientific input and expertise as a medical reviewer and supports the development of global medical, commercial, regulatory, and reimbursement documents

  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of industry, regulatory, clinical and scientific knowledge of Type 1 Diabetes and cell therapies

  • Assure compliance with laws, regulations and applicable codes

Required Experience:

  • MD or PhD degree or equivalent (e.g., MBBS, DO)

  • 1 year of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience working in the biotech/pharma industry preferred

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate difficult concepts and persuade others

  • Ability to develop relationships in a highly matrixed environment

  • Deep understanding of drug development and industry guidelines

  • Ability to engage in positive dialogue and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner
