Job Overview:

Associate Fabrication Specialist | Thermal Protection Systems (TPS)

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Fabrication Specialist to support the Space Launch System (SLS) team in Kennedy Space Center, FL.

This position will support production with an emphasis on Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) for SLS Core Stage Integration at NASA’s Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs composite lay-up, fabrication and assembly tasks

  • Assembles, repairs, modifies and installs various TPS components

  • Prepares test articles, fixtures and data collection devices to perform various tests

  • Performs basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation

  • Applies routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements

  • Works on complex components and systems using established drawings and requirements.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 1+ years’ experience following manufacturing disciplines on spaceflight or aircraft systems

  • 1+ years’ experience with safety process and/or procedures in a manufacturing or operations environment

  • Experience and/or coursework in thermal protective systems

  • Able to work any shift based on the needs of the operation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working on a NASA Program

  • Experience in a clean room environment

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility

Summary pay range: USD $49,300 – $66,700
