Job Overview:

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for executing portions of the electrical design of transformers.  This includes creating and reviewing designs as well as maintaining them.  S/he may evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability. This individual must possess entry-level problem-solving skills. S/he follows standard engineering practices to develop optimum designs, making minor adjustments as necessary to achieve the best results.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute portions of the electrical design work.  Review electrical design characteristics and consult with more senior engineers on design criteria or complex design issues.
  • Remain current with industry and technical standards and developments and maintain a high level of expertise in designated areas of specialization.
  • Maintain designated design, manufacturing and process related documentation.
  • Consult with marketing, customers and design engineering staff to understand and develop innovative solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Consult with manufacturing process leaders to develop and optimize design solutions at the optimum total cost.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Good process and problem solving skills
  • A team player with strong people skills; ability to build relationships
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation
  • Computer skills: highly proficient in Microsoft applications: Power Point, Excel and Word
  • Analytical capacity for creative problem-solving, process design and product application, design and development
  • Data collection and analysis skills
  • Understanding of and skill in use of specific design methods, rationales and tools (e.g. FEA, DFM, robust design)


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

Preferred Education / Experience

  • Prior experience in an engineering internship is preferred
