Job Overview:

Associate Director, Gene Therapy New Product Planning shapes the early commercial strategy for Sarepta’s gene therapy portfolio and serves as a member of a team leading the development of potentially transformative solutions for patients with rare genetic diseases. The Associate Director, Gene Therapy New Product Planning is responsible for leading the identification and execution of gene therapy commercial strategies and initiatives that support the development of new indications and enabling technologies. This role serve as the commercial lead on early program teams, providing key commercial insights and recommendations to the team, and works closely with Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Business Development, Medical Affairs and external vendors. This position reports to the head of New Product Planning and is responsible for presenting findings broadly across the organization, including to senior management.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Work collaboratively to develop and refine market assessments to gain a deep understanding of the disease, the patient, how they are being treated today and the unmet need
  • Lead the development of the target product profile with a cross functional team and validate the commercial potential of our profile through a rigorous study of key external stakeholders’ perspectives on the opportunity
  • Translate key insights from scientific experts (internal R&D colleagues and external opinion leaders) into clear, actionable strategies for each program
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including finance, supply chain, forecasting, trade and market access to ensure delivery of sales goals
  • Proactively addresses and manages risks and issue escalation
  • Identifies synergies across the organization and effectively highlights channel management opportunities to achieve revenue targets
  • Other related duties as required

Desired Education and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree (e.g., MBA, PhD) preferred, with at least 10 years of experience in biotech/pharma strategic roles with a track record demonstrating accountability, sense of urgency and cross functional leadership
  • Background in business, biological science or pharmacy discipline preferred
  • Experience evaluating the commercial opportunity for therapies targeting ultra-rare diseases
  • Experience working in a start-up and/or mid-cap sized company preferred
  • Enthusiasm for working in a high-science environment
  • Proven ability to lead and develop exceptional relationships, including the ability to have an impact on and influence others
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to assimilate disparate and complex pieces of information
  • Knowledge, experience, and proven track record of using deep customer and market data to deliver concise insights to R&D decisions and innovative patient and physician centric business solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across multiple functions
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment with changing priorities
