No day is the same, but typically you'll be involved in the following:

  • Leadership - driver meetings, mentoring, motivating, ride-withs/coaching trips

  • Team Management - participation in interviewing, hiring, training, performance assessments, and recognition

  • Operational management - route balancing, dispatch, equipment assignments, backhaul scheduling

  • Regulatory oversight - DOT, Federal, State, and Local regulations

Key qualifications and requirements for this position include:

  • At least 21 years of age (required)

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (required)

  • CDL Class A Required

  • CDL-T certification preferred

  • Two to three years previous transportation experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience

  • Clean driving record; as required by DOT and Gordon Food Service standards

  • Note - effective, Jan. 6th, 2020, you must be registered through the Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse and provide electronic consent in order to be considered for employment with us. If you have not registered through the Clearinghouse, click here to register

  • Successfully passing a drug test that will assess drug usage (including marijuana) and a background check

  • Must have knowledge of DOT, OSHA, Smith System (Keys to Safe Driving) and dispatch procedures

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds on a regular basis

  • Ability to work independently on varying schedules

  • Computer knowledge is preferred, Excel and Word, email software and internet applications preferred

  • Knowledge of GFS Transpro, Xata, Cadec and other electronic job aids preferred
