About the Role

Are you a natural leader with a mix of sales drive, operational precision, and hands-on mechanical skill? TrailersPlus is seeking a dedicated Assistant Store Manager (ASM) to join our team in Baton Rouge, LA.

In this role, you will work directly alongside the Store Manager to drive location revenue, deliver top-tier customer service, manage inventory, and oversee shop repair and maintenance operations. You’ll serve as a key operational leader and step in to run full store operations in the Store Manager’s absence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Customer Service: Assist in meeting and exceeding revenue goals, generate local leads, handle customer inquiries, and guide buyers through the trailer purchasing process.

  • Operations & Inventory: Oversee trailer inspections, parts inventory, purchases, vendor relations, key control, and facility maintenance to maintain a clean, safe, and professional lot.

  • Paperwork & Compliance: Verify and execute accurate invoicing for trailers, parts, and labor. Ensure all required sales and title paperwork is correctly submitted to state agencies and corporate departments.

  • Team Leadership & Service Supervision: Support the onboarding, training, and performance management of service and parts staff. Direct daily shop schedules and promote a safe, productive environment.

  • Hands-On Equipment Operation: Safely operate power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and tractors as required for assembly, maintenance, and yard operations.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Computer Literacy: Strong proficiency with online computer systems and basic keyboarding skills to efficiently process invoices, track inventory, submit state compliance paperwork, and generate reports.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy in completing state vehicle sales documents, verifying financial invoices, scheduling breaks/timecards, and following safety standard operating procedures.

  • Mechanical Knowledge: Hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability (or willingness to train) to safely operate power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and tractors. Comfortable handling physical inspections, repairs, and moving mechanical parts.

  • Experience & Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; 6 months to 1 year of related retail, sales, or lot management experience.

  • Math & Reasoning: Ability to calculate discounts, commissions, percentages, and basic dimensions/volumes, as well as troubleshoot daily operational challenges.

  • Communication: Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to read safety manuals and procedure guides. (Spoken fluency in Spanish is a plus!)

  • Licensing: Ability to obtain required state and city vehicle sales licenses.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Routine lifting of 50–75 lbs, standing, climbing ladders, and moving around the lot/shop.

  • Work includes indoor office tasks as well as working outdoors on the lot in various Louisiana weather conditions.
