Job Overview:

Kauai Coffee is seeking an Assistant Retail Operations Manager to join our team at the Visitor Center! This is a full-time salaried opportunity that is eligible for benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, short/long term disability, paid time off, 401k with employer match, free monthly coffee, and a generous discount on coffee and merchandise. 

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Retail Manager is to ensure excellent customer service and assist in building a healthy work environment. Maintain accurate and updated records of all inventory, ordering and receiving coffee, and related merchandise. Assisting with sales and service in the Coffee Bar and Gift Shop.

Job Duties:

  1. Maintains accurate records and files within the POS system and office environment.
  2. Maintains all inventory records for coffee and related items for all retail outlets.
  3. Prepares reports related to daily operations, tracking daily/monthly sales for our sales goals.
  4. Maintains proper ordering and receiving of all coffee and related items to ensure adequate inventory in all retail outlets.
  5. Assists in Retail, Lanai, and Coffee Bar area as needed.
  6. Attends all staff meetings and trainings.
  7. Fills in as a Senior Sales Associate as needed.
  8. Supervises all employees and assists in training and coaching.
  9. Assists Retail Operations Manager in bringing in new merchandise and evaluating sales of current merchandise to ensure the highest level of sales. Assists in keeping store up to visual standards.
  10. Works independently and performs all necessary duties in the absence and alongside the Retail Operations Manager.
  11. Facilitate in ensuring a safe working environment for all employees to minimize accidents and their related cost, ensure safety policies and procedures are followed.  
  12. Responsible for compliance with Federal and State employment laws and Company Rules and Policies to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  13. Assists in building a healthy, team-oriented work environment to ensure the continued success of Kauai Coffee Co and Visitor Center.

Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge:

  • Requires at least a high school graduate/equivalent. 
  • Minimum two years of supervisory and retail experience.
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license and maintain it for the duration of employment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office – Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, etc, Windows-based computer systems and other network and web-based applications, including Point of Sale(POS) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change, handle multiple priorities, to use sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will be on island or already have plans to relocate to the island of Kauai. They will have familiarization with Hawaii, either as a visitor or previous resident, of the cost of living on a Hawaiian island and have leads to secure housing.  Many people will find the island lifestyle worth the sacrifices to make it happen - we certainly do!
