Job Overview:

Summary

Will support the Vision, Mission, and Values of the Organization. The primary responsibility of the Quality Assurance Manager is to ensure that all products meet or exceed Allen's standards and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports Allen Harim’s mission, vision and values
  • Develop and implement Action Plans and Key Performance initiatives to meet annual budget, Operating Plan, Balanced Scorecard, and Agristat’s metrics.
  • Plans and controls the work for the Quality Assurance Department, ensuring that all assignments are completed timely and accurately and that all resources dedicated to the department are utilized properly.
  • Responsible for the safety and health of employees, which includes but is not limited to, safety and health awareness and training, accident prevention and incident investigations, and safe work practices.
  • Establishes and maintains lines of communication between QA and HACCP Technicians, QA Supervisors and production employees.
  • Ensures that production processes are monitored, the monitoring is documented and production management is notified of the monitoring results.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records relative to quality and food safety.     Must meet regulatory requirements for HACCP.
  • Monitors and controls departmental costs.
  • Monitors and adjusts tares to maintain proper and consistent weights.
  • Monitors moisture pickup and records as required.
  • Provides training and support to QA Technicians and Supervisors ensuring their understanding of Allen Harim’s policies.
  • Develops and implements processes for new products as required.
  • Acts as liaison with USDA.
  • Audits HACCP, SSOP, Food Defense, Animal Welfare and other key quality food safety or regulatory plans and documentation.
  • Develops procedures for special data collection projects as required.
  • Performs service and product audits at customer locations as requested.
  • Work within Allen Harim Management system.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Saturdays to be expected

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Poultry Science, Biology, or related field plus three years Quality Assurance experience, preferably in poultry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • HACCP and Food Defense certified.
  • Knowledge of computers and good organizational skills.
  • Promotes a Quality attitude.

Supervisory Responsibilities

List the supervisory responsibilities the position must perform; include the department or position titles responsible for and the level of authority exercised in performing the responsibilities.

  • Receives limited supervision.  Handles most routine and non-routine situations independently.  Supervises and directs QC Supervisors and Technicians.

The job operates in a poultry plant environment.     The environment can be wet, hot, cold, noisy and odorous – Safety protection is provided.
