Description

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Projects, the Assistant Project Manager- Mechanical is responsible for providing overall support to Project Managers with all aspects of current projects as assigned to the department. This includes communicating with current and potential customers to address and analyze needs as they arise. Responsible for assisting with all elements and phases of robotic automation projects including areas such as problem solving, conflict resolution, schedule adherence, cost tracking, change orders, documentation, and customer liaison. Travel to customer sites will be required to participate in project meetings during project start-up, installations, or project wrap up.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Create and maintain a layout suitable to meet the project requirements, which includes safety, quality, functionality, and that installation designs are accounted for. Discuss and negotiate layout details with end customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
  • Determine and gather initial data for internal engineering and monitor and guide internal engineering progress and costs. Act as a link between the customer, suppliers, support and Cimcorp/Muratec engineering solutions. Seek solutions and participate in problem-solving issues whenever required.
  • Act as a link to Cimcorp/Muratec assembly team and support the project installation team that are involved in obtaining internal/supplier acceptances.
  • Arrange & layout sub-systems accurately and in relation to other physical interfaces, such as equipment from Customer, Cimcorp, Muratec, 3rd party supply as well as building constraints.
  • Guide mechanical design to meet project specific requirements.
  • Together with Project Managers, emphasize and monitor that safety is top priority.
  • Assist the Project Manager to develop a detailed project schedule and then monitor and track progress.
  • Monitor that project engineering is executed according to the plan.
  • Ensure technical solutions meet the customer expectations according to the scope of supply and project specifications.
  • Work with other departments including QHSE to ensure quality of the project and report any deviations.
  • Support the Project Manager to track and record “Lessons Learned”.
  • In collaboration with the Project Manager, diligently document all meetings, follow through on action plans, and ensure tasks are completed as per each project milestone tasks, including approvals.
  • Under the guidance of the Project Manager, partially responsible to manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs.
  • Report and escalate issues to Project Manager as needed.
  • Be involved in risk management to minimize potential risks.
  • Communicate technical matters with Customer, Vendors, and internal teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  

Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, engineering/mechanical, or related field; Two (2) or more years’ experience working in an industrial/engineering/automation industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.  

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

 

REASONING ABILITY  

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to organize and to take responsibility, lead and direct the work of other team members. 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, Creo and AutoCAD. 
  • Excellent knowledge of project processes to accomplish project goals. 
  • Project business fundamentals 
  • Overall knowledge about industrial control systems 
  • Risk management and change management are key factors to success, so expertise in these areas is mandatory.  

 

TRAVEL 

This position requires up to 30% travel including domestic and international. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required. Must have or be eligible to obtain a passport for international travel.
