The Assistant Supervisor helps to direct production resources and maintain staff efficiency to effectively achieve safety, quality, production, customer satisfaction, budgetary, and scorecard goals. This position aids the Supervisor in organizing workflow with assignments, preparing employee schedules, and developing, coordinating, and supporting company and division systems, policies, and procedures.
Essential Functions include:
- Aid supervisors in managing staff and resources, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals and expectations are met or exceeded.
- Assist supervisors in coordinating with other supervisors/shifts to ensure that customer orders are completed on time and that any issues are communicated and addressed from shift to shift.
- Assist supervisors in maintaining inventory control, performing production entries, and production planning (including investigating and adjusting negative on-hand, transactions, work order management, and other issues as appropriate), along with associated reporting requirements.
- Review, verify, and enter daily production data, including labor entries, materials issued, scrap, and/or other data as needed.
- Perform weekly inventory cycle counts and make corrections/reconciliations as needed.
- Ensure production staff are properly trained to record production entries and inventory transfers.
- Identify and support staffing and training needs for each division in cooperation with supervisors, human resources, and the plant manager.
- Assist supervisors in mentoring staff, providing guidance and feedback where appropriate.
- Communicate employee performance to supervisors.
- Ensure housekeeping is maintained in all areas and address any deficiencies.
- Administer company rules, policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Identify and support opportunities for improvement in cooperation with the supervisor to drive operational efficiencies and effectiveness, eliminate waste, reduce cost, improve customer satisfaction, and/or improve employee satisfaction.
- Attend production/operations meetings, address action items from those meetings, and manage the shift and division in the supervisor's absence, with the assistance of the plant manager as needed.
Requirements:
AS degree preferred. 2+ years experience in a manufacturing setting as a team lead or other leadership experience required. MS Office skills and ERP experience preferred.
