Our Flora, MS location is seeking an Assistant Product Manager to add to our talented Archery/Hunting team. Reporting to the Sr. Product Manager, this new developmental position is intended to lead to a Product Manager (PM) role over time. This individual will be responsible for working with Sr. Product Manager and Product Manager to help create and validate innovative new products for all Archery/Hunting product categories (Trail Cameras, Shooting Supports, Game Calls, Blinds, Arrows, etc.) under the Bushnell, Tasco, Simmons, Primos, Gold Tip, and Bee Stinger brands.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Product and Sales Support (20%)

    • Create derivatives/SMU’s and “special programs” for key accounts and special markets. Initially this role will work with Sr. Product Manager and Category Product Managers to work on the special projects.

  • Product Assessment (20%)

    • Conduct required research & business analysis

    • Monitor performance/trends of key competitors & retailers

  • Product Testing & Validation (25%)

    • Coordinate evaluation of product samples / first receipt of production with Engineering. Including: basic functionality, user interface, product specs etc.

    • Conduct Functionality and performance testing to ensure product meets defined specifications and consumer expectations.

    • Conduct competitive evaluation/testing as required.

  • Product Support (20%)

    • Verify accuracy of product specs in all packaging, catalogs and other marketing/sales materials.

    • Maintain product spec sheets for newly created products.

    • Provide on-going product training for Customer Service and Repair Lab.

  • Ongoing Product Management/Maintenance (15%)

    • Track/analyze sales and profitability of new products that were created

    • Proactively manage inventory (excess, backorders, etc.)

    • Assist in product forecasting and production planning

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business-related or STEM)

  • 2+ years in product management, development, marketing, or related field

  • Avid outdoors person and active participant in the optics category.

  • Understanding of product development life cycle and necessary steps to move from concept to commercialization.

  • Organized and detail-oriented with ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret POS data and sales reports and use to anticipate market trends and develop product strategies.

  • Ability to define problems/opportunities, collect data, establish facts and make valid conclusions/recommendations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, instruction manuals and develop sales/marketing materials.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Senior Management, Sales, customers and end consumers.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
