Assistant Marketing Manager

Summary 
The Assistant Marketing Manager helps to propel Frieda’s brand growth with marketing & innovation. Drives all consumer-facing marketing activity including omni channel marketing, point of sale support, website management.  Also manages new item development, primarily new packaging configurations and support of the initiative management/stage gate process.  Responsible for strategy through execution and management of agencies & freelancers where needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Innovation Development
Manage graphics changes needed for all labels, etc.  Designer will do the work but this person will direct the work to be done, looking holistically across similar packaging to maintain integrity of our product lines.  Drives copy development.

Assist in managing new product development process & projects.  Must be able to work well within the organization and with outside vendors and partners to take an idea from a concept idea into fruition. Leads the project from inception to launch and builds milestone-based timeline.  Manages the cross functional team to build timeline and execute against that timeline.  Identifies gaps in the process and ensures flawless execution to point of launch.

Supports stage gate process.  Facilitate the intake and management process of evaluating new initiatives.  Also manage quarterly reporting on initiatives in the stage gate process.  Facilitate leadership stage gate discussions when needed.

Develop a basis-for-interest/ strategic analysis to create the business case for new projects and help inform project direction.  Includes competitive analysis and porters 5 forces. Conducts business analysis, using both internal data as well as syndicated IRI data to help inform decisions.

Work with Materials Manager to determine the best product & package configuration for new product launches and repackaging of existing products.   Supports Materials Manager in communicating printing and manufacturing specs to outside vendors to ensure flawless execution.

 

Marketing Activities
Assists in building our omni channel strategy, including organic & paid activation in retailer platforms.  Works closely with sales to ensure products show up and manages content.

Manages point-of-sale support and signage requests.

Responsible for ongoing and seasonal website updates and SEO optimization.  Not primarily responsible for image creation. 
Conducts analysis on retail selling data to identify trends and opportunities.
May be asked to put materials into brand at times, including sales presentations.
All other duties as assigned and/or required. 

 

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited college or university required. Marketing major preferred.

3-6 years of experience in a Marketing/Digital/Advertising agency environment or client-side marketing department.  A blend of B2B and B2C experience is preferred.  Ideal candidate has experience with both digital and traditional marketing programs, as well as omni channel marketing.

 

Computer Skills                                                          
Proficient in Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Powerpoint.  
Adobe Creative Suite & Illustrator and Word Press preferred but not mandatory.  Experience with google ad words and paid platforms for Instagram, Facebook & Pinterest is beneficial.  Working knowledge of adobe after effects and final cut pro is a plus.
Ideal candidate has experience analyzing retail level data with either Nielsen, IRI or similar.
