Job Description

Rowman & Littlefield is looking for an entry-level Assistant Marketing Manager to work on its Academic Marketing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for marketing communication campaigns, assisting with budgeting, and audience research. The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Channel Manager at the company’s headquarters in Lanham, MD.

Responsibilities

• Traffic marketing communication 
  1. Create, implement, and track marketing campaigns across all media including direct mail, digital communication, and events. Tasks include copyediting, list research, and coordination with Editorial, Creative Services, and Strategic Engagement teams.
  2. Ensure client communication is delivered in a timely manner for maximum impact
  3. Maintain databases with marketing campaign information
• Budget Alignment 
  1. Track monthly project budget expenses 
  2. Provide accurate expense reporting 
• Customer Engagement & Awareness
  1. Assist in the planning, staffing, and promotion of R&L products at several annual academic conferences (virtual and in-person)
  2. Track and report on participation
• Author Engagement
  1. Create print and digital promotional materials for authors as needed

 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, or related field
• Exemplary communication skills 
• Attention to detail and strong organization skills
• Experience using Microsoft 
• Travel – 10% within the US and Canada (following local and national guidelines during the pandemic)
