Logistics Maintenance Assistant Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Logistics Maintenance Assistant Manager to support our high-volume automotive manufacturing logistics operations. In this role, you will manage a team who is responsible for maintaining material handling systems, automation, and logistics equipment.
Your leadership will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our logistics assets to support just-in-time production flow. You will coach and develop Team Leaders, Technicians, and Specialists, align Maintenance priorities with Production demands, and help drive continuous improvement across equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
This department is a key to ensuring that the logistics and conveyance machinery and equipment remains reliable and safe at DENSO Manufacturing, Maryville campus.
This position reports directly to the DMTN Maintenance Engineering Manager.
Essential responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and support Team Leaders, ensuring effective supervision of technicians and smooth execution of maintenance activities.
- Partner with the Logistics Maintenance Manager to manage overall maintenance performance and strategy.
- Oversee maintenance of logistics and material handling equipment including conveyors, AGVs, AS/RS, robotics, dock systems, and forklifts.
- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs are executed consistently by Team Leaders and their teams.
- Monitor equipment reliability KPIs, analyze trends, and guide Team Leaders in implementing corrective and improvement actions.
- Drive compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards within the automotive manufacturing environment.
- Support Team Leaders in managing spare parts, vendor services, and shift coverage to minimize downtime and optimize responsiveness.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with production, engineering, and quality teams to align logistics maintenance with plant operations.
- Promote and support the adoption of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma practices across teams.
- Develop leadership skills in Team Leaders and technical skills in technicians through mentoring, training, and performance feedback.
- Review purchase requisitions, track department expenses, and order parts and other items which pertain to the activities of the Department.
- Completes and presents procurement documents and approvals for investment level items.
- Analyze downtime situations and develop and implement permanent solutions to reduce and/or prevent future downtime.
- Coordinates and leads all annual and on-going projects.
- Evaluates team members’ work performance and assists in upgrading their development and talent. Reflects development needs to Goals and Objectives with measurable and achievable targets.
- Plans and improves Department policies and procedures.
- Performs Human Resource activities including tracking time and attendance, counseling, scheduling, etc.
- Involved in interviews of candidates and recommends potential new hires.
- Maintains an appropriate level of conformance in regard to the corporate culture as expressed in the Associate Handbook. Relates well with others, including as appropriate, peers, supervisor, subordinates, customers and suppliers. Maintains good attendance and assumes appropriate role(s) when working in a team environment. Responds appropriately to unexpected and/or continuing situations which develop in the work environment.
- Travels as needed based on Company business requirements.
Note: This position may require some off shift and weekend maintenance support (24/7 operation)
Requirements:
- Minimum Qualifications:
- 4yr degree in Engineering or related technical field
- 3-5yr leadership experience in logistics maintenance and reliability
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient problem solving and creative thinking skills.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience
- Strong background managing multiple teams
- Proficient in public speaking
- Excellent organizational and time management skills

Annual Salary: $94,000-$117,000
