Job Title:  Assistant Machine Operator          

Dept. Name: Converting Department

Supervisor’s Title:  Converting Supervisor  


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read and follow instructions as provided by machine assistants, operators, and supervisors.
  • Work together with crew/team as a helper, feeding/stacking at machines.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Maximize piece-rate speed on tasks assigned.
  • Cross-train for other job positions as necessary.
  • Follow Production, Safety, and Quality guidelines.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Additional duties as assigned by operators and supervisors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
  • Prior work experience in a manufacturing operation.
  • Must know how to perform mathmathic formulas such as fractions.
  • Must know how to read a tape measure.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to read, write, communicate efficiently, and follow instructions on factory masters.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, squat, and swivel. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to hot and/or humid as well as cold conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, louder than normal environments, and high paced atmosphere.
