Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Assistant Controller with strong FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) experience to join our accounting team in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the Controller in managing the day-to-day accounting operations while leading forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and strategic financial initiatives that drive operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cost accounting, and inventory control.
- Lead and coordinate the FP&A function including annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-term planning processes.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Partner with operations and engineering teams to analyze product costs, margin performance, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs to provide actionable insights into leadership.
- Provide financial modeling, scenario planning, and ROI analysis for capital projects and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure internal controls are in place and adhere to SOX compliance and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with audits, tax filings, and liaising with external auditors and consultants.
- Mentor and support junior accounting and finance staff as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including 2+ years in a manufacturing environment (aerospace manufacturing strongly preferred).
- Proven experience in FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management in a production setting.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Attributes:
- Knowledge of AS9100 or aerospace quality standards.
- Experience supporting DCAA compliance or government contract accounting.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
