Reports to: Controller
This position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and international financial reporting standards.
This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for communicating effectively with other individuals within the Finance, Sales, Operations, Purchasing, Legal, Inventory, and Human Resources.
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations including but not limited to 21 CFR 820, 21 CFR 1271, AATB, MDSAP (per jurisdictional requirements), and ISO 13485, ensuring compliance with these requirements across the organization.
- Actively contribute to the fulfillment of Xtant Medical’s mission, values and quality policy
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment and ensure proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste according to OSHA guidelines and Xtant Medical standard operating procedures (SOP)
- Develop and maintain an understanding of Xtant Medical products
- Understand the interaction of departmental activities with the Quality System and their impact on the production of medical devices and human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products (HCT/Ps)
- Adhere to Xtant Medical SOPs, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and safety protocols
- Represent the company in a professional manner to the public, customers, and vendors, and maintain trusting relationships with physician partners, customers, and fellow employees
- Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of the Company’s financial results in accordance with GAAP, resulting in continuously compliant internal, as well as external (SEC), reporting. Through application of proper controls, procedures and technical accounting, avoid the potential for any restatement of historically reported results
- Partner with department leaders to further develop department-level financial reporting and analysis to ensure it provides qualitative information to be utilized in their decision-making processes
- Manage the financial related systems by ensuring maximum productivity and that it meets the needs of the business today and in the future
- Assist with the oversight of continuous improvement of the day-to-day Accounting and Financial processes
- Maintain an adequate system of internal controls over accounting transactions and compilation of financial statements
- Prepare, oversee, and assist in any external or internal audits as needed
- Partner with the IT team to streamline accounting reconciliations, accounting transactions and reporting
- Provide financial analyses as needed, to support capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
- Assist Controller in review of balance sheet reconciliations
- Responds to inquiries from the CFO and Controller, and other support and field personnel regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
- Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit as well as any other audits and prepare any assigned schedules
- Assist Sales in maintaining margin and profitability assessment tools under the guidance of FP&A
- Lead monthly consolidations for international subsidiaries
- Maintain a strong understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure
- Analyze P&L expenses and revenue, providing variance analysis and commentary
- Review and recommend improvements based on income statements, cash flow, and balance sheets
- Streamline department processes while ensuring accuracy
- Guide staff on handling non-routine transactions
- Support management with special projects, including policy and procedure development
- Document and update policies, procedures, and workflows for assigned areas
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
- Financial Responsibilities
- Submit timely expense reports and abide by the Expense Reimbursement Policy
- Training
- Complete required training, including but not limited to initial orientation and environmental health and safety training prior to performing tasks
- Participate in training programs, ensuring timely completion and accurate, up-to-date training records
- Complete annual SOP review and safety training (i.e. OSHA, bloodborne pathogens) as applicable
- May require OSHA (bloodborne pathogen) training, SDS, and other safety training as applicable
- Document Control and Record Control
- Complete all documentation accurately and legibly per GDP, retain records according to Xtant Medical’s procedures, and review others’ documentation as needed
- Performance of Duties

- Advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Query, and other finance software as necessary

- Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
- Utilizes extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
- Ability to train, cross-train, direct, and mentor others
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Statistics is required
- CPA designation is highly desirable, demonstrating a strong foundation in regulatory and reporting standards
- Proven track record in both industry and/or public accounting, with hands-on experience in SEC compliance and financial reporting
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and related accounting principles, with the ability to apply them in complex financial environments
- Proficiency in NetSuite and similar ERP systems is a plus
- Familiarity with records management and document control, with a focus on accuracy, organization, and regulatory compliance
- Working Conditions
- This position is based in an office environment
- Standard work hours are Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with occasional overtime or weekend work based on project/production needs
- This position is based on site in Belgrade, MT, with potential remote work or flexible hours available based on department needs
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements specified when entering laboratory and device manufacturing areas and in the handling of company products
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift, carry, push or pull items of varying weight, typically up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to move, bend, or twist the body in various ways
- Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for tasks such as typing, using hand tools or equipment, and assembling or handling small components with precision
- Ability to see clearly, whether with or without corrective lenses
