Description
Provides asset maintenance, reliability, and outage scope guidance and are in charge of overall area asset care. The Reliability (ACE) Engineer is the liaison between production and maintenance, engineering and third-party subject matter experts for plant reliability and increasing equipment availability and asset capacity utilization (or OEE). Lead Engineer within the Operations/Production Department and provides organization, planning, and direction for maintenance, reliability, production/capital improvements, and technical documentation for the assigned areas.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Ensures the principles of Asset Care Excellence (ACE), including the technical means for safe operation and compliance programs, are applied to all aspects of the work, as detailed below.
- Ensures/supports that adequate process related equipment maintenance systems and programs are in place and that such programs are operated in a safe and efficient manner and meet or exceed all regulatory requirements.
- Carries out analyses of maintenance costs and/or repair frequencies and use existing analyses of OEE losses to identify bad actors and develop measures to improve or replace the assets.
- Leads or takes part in cross-functional teams, e.g. Reliability Centered Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis and Six Sigma Teams, Investigations, or Equipment Improvement Teams.
- Prepares and submits to the Area Operations Manager monthly reports summarizing the status of major maintenance and reliability activities and their on-going capital projects.
- Leads the Capital project input and budgeting process for his/her area of responsibility.
- Executes maintenance work orders – assuring work order quality metrics are met as well as assuring operators are entering work orders in JDE for all non-optimal issues in the plant. Set the weekly/daily maintenance scheduling priorities. Work to drive down emergency work orders and call outs.
- Leads and coordinates Root Cause Analysis investigations for all bad actors and significant reliability incidents. Assign RCA leaders and resources. Responsibility for follow up – assignment and tracking of corrective actions.
- Manages all areas of mechanical equipment related maintenance not being covered by the Mechanical Integrity program, including on-plant, workshop, inventory, clerical, and planning activities as well as maintaining/improving the necessary documentation (e.g. specifications, equipment documentation).
- Co-ordinates plant changes, both equipment and facilities, which require engineering input, which are requested by Maintenance or Production, or other departments acting within LSB Industries. Co-ordinate plant changes, both equipment and process, which improve plant OEE, yields, equipment, reliability, process quality.
- Ensures that prompt and effective reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents is carried out by the Engineering and support staff. Take part or take over the team lead in the investigation of accidents or significant incidents in the assigned areas (Root Cause Analyses).
- Improves/develops a reliability strategy based on the business needs, e.g. (ACE), to make sure that maintenance, Turnaround and Capital spending is mainly focused on the most relevant equipment and moving towards a proactive approach. This includes identification of the critical spare equipment/spare parts and determination of their inventory parameters, enhancement of the Preventive Maintenance program, e.g. condition-based, as well as development of a plan for asset preservation and rationalization projects in the assigned areas.

- The incumbent uses theoretical technical knowledge combined with analytical thinking and process experience to solve process, maintenance, and technical project problems.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from a 4-year ABET accredited engineering program and a minimum of 3-5 years' experience within the Chemical/Process or Petrochemical Industry are required.
- The incumbent should have experience developing solid working relationships with production personnel and must be willing to teach and mentor production and maintenance personnel. Furthermore, a basic knowledge of accounting principles is required.
