Job Overview:

BARBCO is seeking a mechanically skilled Assembly Technician Level I to support the assembly of diesel-powered, hydraulic construction and underground boring equipment.

This is a hands-on mechanical position with a strong focus on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, mechanical components, and complete equipment assembly.

Candidates with experience in diesel equipment, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, hydraulics, and mechanical assembly are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble diesel-powered and hydraulic machinery and subassemblies.
  • Install diesel engines, pumps, hydraulic motors, cylinders, valves, manifolds, reservoirs, filters, and related components.
  • Install and route hydraulic hoses, fittings, tubing, and hydraulic components.
  • Install bearings, shafts, couplings, sprockets, chains, and other mechanical components.
  • Read and follow work orders, bills of material, mechanical drawings, and basic hydraulic diagrams.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and measuring equipment.
  • Assist with filling, bleeding, startup, and testing of hydraulic systems.
  • Check hydraulic connections for proper routing, securement, and leaks.
  • Assist with machine troubleshooting and adjustments.
  • Identify missing parts, incorrect components, drawing discrepancies, or assembly concerns.
  • Maintain accurate assembly and work-order documentation.
  • Follow BARBCO safety, quality, and production procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of mechanical, diesel, hydraulic, automotive, heavy-equipment, industrial maintenance, or related hands-on experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical systems.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic systems or the ability to learn hydraulic assembly.
  • Ability to safely use common mechanic and assembly tools.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements.
  • Basic ability to read mechanical drawings, diagrams, or equipment manuals.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting ability.
  • Dependable attendance and willingness to learn.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Diesel engine repair or installation
  • Heavy equipment repair
  • Agricultural or construction equipment
  • Hydraulic hoses and fittings
  • Hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, and cylinders
  • Industrial equipment assembly
  • OEM machinery assembly

You should be proficient in:

  • Transmission & Drivetrain Systems
  • Diesel & Heavy Equipment Systems
  • Hydraulic Systems & Components
