Job Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform all tasks involved in the production of Ritchie Engineering Company Hose Department products. This includes brass fittings, crimping, cutting hoses, bundling hoses, labeling, inserting gaskets and valves into barbs and light machine maintenance. Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 Employees may work at different work stations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the assembly process.  Some, but not all, work stations require the following responsibilities and duties:

 

  1. Performs assembly-type functions 
  2. Measure and cut hose for stock by hand
  3. Operate cutting machine
  4. Cut set of test hoses for quality (see work instructions) every morning
  5. Pull and burst samples; Re-work samples if not up to standards
  6. Inspect fittings, hoses and other parts
  7. Apply epoxy to brass fittings
  8. Salvage brass fittings
  9. Assemble gaskets and valves into barbs
  10. Weigh and measure completed barbs
  11. Operate tying machine
  12. Push ferrules onto hose
  13. Must have basic computer skills
  14. Clock in and out of work orders
  15. Ability to read work orders and work instructions
  16. Complete proper paper work daily
  17. Place finished goods in the designated locations
  18. Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues
  19. Maintain a clean and safe work area
  20. Performs other related duties and assignments as required
  21. All production workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of production 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED: 

The position will require Mathematical skills to include addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication

 

EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY USED:

Employees may work at different work stations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the assembly process.  Some, but not all, work stations require the employee to use some of the following equipment and/or machinery:

  • Labeling Machine
  • Pusher
  • Crimping Machine
  • Cutting machine
  • Tying machine
  • Bending Machine 
  • Gasket and Valve feeder
  • Pallet Jack
  • Scales
  • Computer

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT / WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Close and peripheral vision as well as depth perception is required for inspection
  • Ability to tolerate occasional loud noise
  • Ability to stand and / or sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to tolerate repetitive motion
  • Some exposure to vibration
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Some work stations require the employee to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
