Job Overview:

Job Title: Assembler - Finish (Latches, Door Pins, Sway Bars, Cables, etc.)

Reports To: Finish Team Coordinator

Job Summary:

As an Assembler - Finish at Life Line Emergency Vehicles, you will play a vital role in the final assembly and exterior finish of our high-quality emergency vehicles. Reporting directly to the Supervisor of the Exterior Finish department, your responsibilities will include building rear bumper assemblies, final setup of air ride systems, installing door sills, and pre-fitting and drilling bare metal units.

Additionally, you will install mirrors, pre-fabricate parts, weatherstrip doors, and cut, fit, and finish stainless steel trim. You’ll also measure, align, and attach components such as latches, cables, door pins, and sway bars, ensuring a flawless finish. This position requires close collaboration with team members to maintain the production schedule while delivering exceptional quality.

This role involves frequent interaction with internal teams and external partners, requiring strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to teamwork and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assembly and Installation:
    • Build rear bumper assemblies and install door sills.
    • Finalize air ride system setups and troubleshoot for leaks.
    • Install latches, cables, door pins, sway bars, mirrors, and weather stripping for doors.
    • Pre-fit and drill bare metal units to prepare them for production.
    • Cut, fit, and finish stainless steel trim to ensure high-quality aesthetics.
  • Tool Operation and Mechanical Processes:
    • Operate or learn to operate tools such as drills, shears, crimpers, buffers, grinders, saws, and other assigned equipment.
    • Pre-fabricate parts and contribute to efficient assembly workflows.
  • Problem-Solving and Collaboration:
    • Identify and resolve assembly issues, make decisions, and suggest process improvements.
    • Train and assist other employees with processes and techniques.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Parts, and Production teams to meet production goals.
  • Quality Assurance and Inspection:
    • Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to ensure accuracy.
    • Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with Life Line’s quality standards.
    • Apply quality assurance techniques and strive to meet or exceed cost reduction goals.
  • Organization and Efficiency:
    • Maintain excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in every task.
    • Ensure proper documentation and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday – Thursday: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Friday: 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM
  • Flexibility is required, including earlier or later shifts as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • Skills and Traits:
    • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using power and air tools.
    • Self-motivated, disciplined, and team oriented.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Results-driven and eager to learn.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience with mechanical tools, saws, and Life Line products is a plus.
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or technical degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, grip, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, lift, move, and carry.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Use of senses such as sight, touch, sound, and smell is required.

Work Environment:

  • Work primarily indoors, with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
  • Regularly work near moving mechanical parts and may encounter humid, cold, or hot conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Noise levels are typically moderate.
