Description

Summary/Objective

Assembles electrical machine components into sub and full assemblies; As required, performs wiring per electrical schematics, pipe fitting, welding and machine testing. As assigned, may complete customization work on machines imported from Japan. 

Essential Functions

  • Assemble wire harnesses per electrical schematics and cable lists
  • Terminate wiring in terminal boxes and control panels per drawings, using crimpers, wire lugs, and terminals
  • Wire into motors, hydraulics/pneumatic valves, sensors
  • Ring out work, check resistance, under no power
  • Assemble injection molding and die casting machines according to work instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Utilize hand tools, jigs, cranes, fork trucks, etc. to perform assembly, pipefitting, and basic electrical tasks.
  • Assemble hydraulic systems (hoses, pipes, cylinders, adapters, O-rings). 
  • Responsible for reporting all labor and expenses associated with each machine build.
  • Able to operate overhead and gantry cranes, forklifts, and other material handling devises.
  • Update progress each morning at daily department meeting.
  • Works in a safe manner, maintaining established OSHA standards.

Work Environment

This position works in a manufacturing production facility which is often loud, and is subject to seasonal temperature changes. The employee is regularly exposed to heavy machinery (overhead cranes, forklifts and IM machines), moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and mechanical vibration. Employees are expected to maintain the highest levels of personal safety through the use of PPE and ensuring that any employee entering specific work areas wear PPE appropriate to the area.

Physical Demands

This position requires employees to climb on top of machines, inside machines (confined spaces) and regularly lift loads weighing 50 pounds or more. Employees must be able to kneel, stand, walk and use hands for extended periods of time.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of basic electronics, mechanics, schematics reading, and an understanding of trigonometry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an electrical technician in a manufacturing environment (preferably not assembly line).  
  • Basic OSHA knowledge. 
  • Experience working with large machinery.
  • Working knowledge in the following areas:
  • Electrical resistance, continuity, and input/output test on completed machines.
  • Hydraulic pipe welding, pipe bending and fitting operations.
  • Copper and steel tube bending and fitting.
  • Precision measuring equipment.

Travel/Work Authorization

  • Occasional travel required.
  • May need to travel customer sites to help with the installation, including rigging and assembly of machines as well as provide on-site training to customers. 
  • Customer sites are within the United States and in Canada and Mexico.  
  • Proper travel documents and authorization will be required for travel outside of the United States.
