WHAT YOU’LL DO

In this position, you’ll take a hands-on leadership role in the daily activities of power take-off assemblies for products on Ford trucks. Precise, consistent work output is essential, and you’ll be a critical part of ensuring your team achieves its goals.

 

  • Direct the activities of the personnel in the assembly cells
  • Focus on maximizing value stream profitability by continually improving processes
  • Ensure ISO and quality standards meet company requirements
  • Focus on building teamwork within the assembly cells by conducting periodic employee meetings
  • Monitor throughput and standards, and take corrective action as necessary to maximize efficiency
  • Ensure company standard practices and procedures are followed per the department functions
  • Provide training, support, direction, and guidance to assembly cell employees
  • Ensure capacity levels match short-term and long-term demand
  • Adhere to and enforce all company policies and procedures
  • Promote and administer safety awareness daily  
  • Maintain rapport with employees to promote effective working relationships
  • Interpret written instructions and specifications, including blueprint reading
  • Monitor material flow and maintain material delivery routes
  • Assist in assembly cell operations as delegated by the assistant assembly manager
  • Update Heijunka boards and replenishment systems
  • Manage inventory levels and communicate potential shortages to manufacturing and/or purchasing managers to minimize stock outages
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory accuracies, which include monitoring all inventory transactions within the designated value stream
  • Work closely with upstream and downstream suppliers
  • Monitor and communicate the performance of the receiving department, bench assembly workers, and shipping department in supermarket rules, as well as train new employees in supermarket rules
  • Receive parts from the receiving dock and move parts through to the assigned cells
  • Perform other duties that are assigned
  • Must be able to secure and retain a forklift license

 

YOUR EXPERIENCES & SKILLS

  • Minimum one (1) year of assembly experience
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience would be a plus
  • Prefer Lean Implementer certification
  • Good mechanical aptitude 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
  • Flexibility to effectively adapt to changing conditions and job assignments
  • Effectively able to present information in one-on-one and small group situations  
  • A persuasive speaker to both peers and superiors—has natural charisma 
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed
  • Ability to make recommendations and effectively participate in the implementation of plant policies and procedures
  • Ability to work well with others
