Assembler – Truck & Trailer Bodies

Location: Bloomington, IL
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time
 💲 Pay: $17.50–$20 per hour

About the Role

Mickey Truck Bodies is seeking a dependable Assembler to join our IL Recon team. In this hands-on role, you will perform fabrication, assembly, and repair work on truck and trailer bodies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and values safety and teamwork.

What You’ll Do

• Perform fabrication, assembly, and repair work on truck and trailer bodies
• Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively
• Perform body work on box trucks and trailer bodies
• Install lights and wiring
• Operate overhead cranes (stationary and moving)
• Operate forklifts and saws as required
• Move materials using appropriate equipment
• Read work orders, tape measures, and instructions accurately
• Maintain a clean and organized work area daily
• Follow all safety policies and wear required PPE
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to read tape measure down to 1/16
• Ability to perform basic math, including fractions and decimals
• Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules, and instructions
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks from start to finish
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Positive attitude and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills

• Prior manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly experience
• Experience operating cranes, forklifts, or shop equipment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands and arms throughout the shift
• Ability to lift and maneuver materials up to 50 pounds
• Ability to perform repetitive motions and stand for extended periods
• Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators, gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing
• Reliable and punctual attendance

• Manufacturing and repair shop environment
• Exposure to noise, fumes, insulation materials, metal dust, and moving machinery
• Temperature variations depending on season
• Fast-paced, deadline-driven production setting
