Schmidt Construction part of the Edw. C. Levy Group of Companies are seeking an Asphalt Plant Manager for our Colorado Springs and Castle Rock, CO location. This individual will oversee all daily operating, maintenance, production, and personnel functions for the Delta and Castle Rock asphalt production facilities. Be responsible for safe, compliant, and efficient plant performance, including oil management, inventory controls, and coordination with Quality Control to ensure material meets required specifications. Will lead plant teams to maintain reliable production and support business, customer, and operational goals.

Responsibilities
The Plant Manager will:
- Lead daily safety discussions, enforce safe work practices, and correct unsafe conditions.
- Conduct routine safety observations and ensure PPE and equipment safeguards are in use.
- Monitor plant operations to meet daily and seasonal production targets.
- Maintain clean and organized plant grounds and production areas.
- Accurately record and report production data and plant performance metrics.
- Manage asphalt oil inventory, tank levels, temperature controls, and product receiving.
- Coordinate raw material deliveries and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Work directly with Quality Control to ensure mix consistency and specification compliance.
- Troubleshoot production or mix-related performance issues.
- Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance activities with maintenance personnel.
- Support equipment reliability improvements and capital project planning.
- Train and mentor plant staff to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
- Plan staffing and scheduling to support production demand and employee development.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and cross-training opportunities.
Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3–5 years of asphalt plant or similar industrial production experience required.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot plant equipment and controls.
- Knowledge of asphalt mix production methods and associated oil management practices.
- General knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations and the ability to implement the appropriate related programs and controls
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to think strategically and collaborate on problem solving
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, production systems).
- Ability to Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Work in environments with varying temperatures, dust, and industrial noise.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work at heights or outdoors for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license
