JOB SUMMARY
The Asphalt Plant Laborer is a vital member of the plant crew, responsible for performing a wide range of manual and equipment-based tasks that support the production of high-quality hot mix asphalt. This role is foundational to the plant’s daily operations, focusing on maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient workspace. Beyond manual labor, the Laborer is expected to assist with preventative maintenance, manage inventory through material handling, and eventually cross-train on various mobile equipment to support the overall production goals of the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Must possess a Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record
High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience
Work Experience
1+ years of experience in asphalt or construction
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Production equipment operation

Troubleshooting
OSHA regulations and compliance

Physical Requirements
You are typically required to lift, carry, push, and pull between 50 and 75 lbs regularly.
You must be able to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and bend for extended periods. This includes working on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, and accessing heights (up to 90 feet for plant maintenance using catwalks/stairs).
Expect to perform high-repetition manual tasks like shoveling excess material, sweeping, raking hot asphalt, and using pneumatic tools or sledgehammers.
You need good depth perception and peripheral vision to work safely around heavy moving equipment (skid steers, pavers, and haul trucks).

Working Conditions
All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet, dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
