Function:

Supports operations by combining die shop technical expertise with quality assurance responsibilities to maintain production flow, product conformity, and continuous improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Die Shop & Process Support

  • Retrieve, clean, inspect, and prepare tooling to and from the production floor.
  • Provide conform die and tooling assemblies for scheduled changeovers.
  • Maintain inventory levels of conform dies, polymer tooling, spare components, and related tooling.
  • Perform quality inspection of conform dies, polymer tooling components, and incoming tooling/products.
  • Monitor tooling condition, wear, and performance and recommend repair or replacement as needed.
  • Support tooling trials, qualifications, and process validations.
  • Analyze process and tooling performance and recommend improvements.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement and tooling optimization projects.
  • Provide technical and process training to operations and support personnel.
  • Perform other tooling- or process-related duties as assigned.

Quality Assurance

  • Maintain and calibrate inspection and test equipment.
  • Test product per required standards using approved methods and equipment.
  • Perform process audits, product audits, and work instruction/process sheet audits for conformity.
  • Process, document, and disposition of material in the Material Review Area.
  • Provide proactive quality and technical support to operations.
  • Conduct conformance testing and process validation activities.
  • Work cross-functionally with Scheduling, Customer Service, Operations, Engineering, and Distribution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit‑ready quality lab and work area.
  • Support internal and external quality requirements, including customer, regulatory, and IATF requirements as applicable.

Qualifications Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing and tooling processes 
  • Experience in a production, die shop, quality, or laboratory environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct inspections, testing, and audits 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) 
  • Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to operate forklifts, hand trucks, hoists (certification preferred or ability to obtain)

Qualifications Desired:

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification from accredited college and/or university
  • Five (5) years of manufacturing process experience 
  • Process engineering or technical background 
  • Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt or ability to obtain
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician and/or ASQ Certified Calibration Technician 
  • Understanding of IATF and automotive quality requirements 
  • Experience with quality testing equipment (e.g., laser mic, dielectric tester, elongation testers, etc.)

  • Work Environment:  Incumbent will occasionally be exposed to Cold Temperatures <65 degrees and Heat >80 degrees. The environment is well lit; the noise level is often minimal, but incumbent may be exposed to higher than 85 decibels.
