The Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) Military Design Manager is a strategic position overseeing direct and indirect design practitioners based in Oklahoma City, OK that will provide the focus and direction necessary to grow and develop the military design organization to meet the increasing customer demand in the F135 program and assure depot readiness. This position will work closely with the Program and Project disciplines in order to make the necessary internal decisions that meet the business needs, while providing the stability necessary to grow proficiency and retain talent (ie employee satisfaction)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies design-related risks within department or business and recommends improvement plans to control risks.
  • Provides direction for others to ensure that organization goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Supervises or trains design team members as necessary to ensure that the skills and performance of employees meet the organization’s needs.
  • Confers and liaises with senior engineers, customers, and other stakeholders to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products and design-related issues and opportunities
  • Designs major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and promotional or specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
  • Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations.
  • Develops data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
  • •Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
  • Designs, develops and tests metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 10 years of Military Design experience or an Advanced degree and 8 years
  • US Citizenship required due to government programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency Level 3 in a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Proven demonstration of risk-based decision-making, analytical skills, business discernment and professional maturity.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence managing & supervising & developing people
  • Experience with formal customer communications
  • Experience in gas turbine engine design, development, and/or Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO).
