Job Overview:

We are currently seeking an Area Controller for our Northeast Alabama operations based in Huntsville, Al. The position reports to the Northeast Alabama Vice President & General Manager with a strong dotted line to the senior controller in Alabama and Division Controller.  The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising emphasis on business ethics and stewardship of Rogers’ business interests.  Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing financial activities including
    • Preparation of business & capital plans, strategic plan financials and periodic forecasting
    • Ad hoc financial analysis
    • Execute periodic financial closings & statements in coordination with corporate resources
    • Completion of monthly and annual closings
    • Perform financial modeling to support area business development and strategic efforts
    • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
    • Management of fixed assets & inventory control
    • Joint management of credit issues with corporate resources
    • Oversight of accounts payable
  • Acting as the conscience of local and division management by communicating issues timely, appropriately, and courageously when necessary
  • Operating as business advisor to management as appropriate, participating in operational plan development, counseling, coaching and serving as confidant
  • Leading the audit function including maintaining effective internal controls and insuring adherence to corporate policies & procedures
  • Managing all administrative and HR functions with the business unit

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of financial and accounting experience
  • 5+ years of financial and accounting experience in construction preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field required, MBA and/or CPA a plus
  • Proven track record in planning, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Skilled in maintaining effective internal controls
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Experience with IBM Analytics, Oracle and IBM Cognos preferred
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills with effectiveness across organization
  • Some travel is required as needed (< 15%)
