What you will do
You will be responsible for driving the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for air-cooled chillers—ensuring the highest standards of quality from concept through production. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, engage with suppliers, and ensure product and process integrity across the development lifecycle.
This role is critical in aligning supplier performance with business needs for quality, delivery, scalability, and sustainability in both new and existing product lines.
What You’ll Do
Lead and manage the APQP process for new products and continuous improvement of existing ones
Facilitate communication across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers
Define customer expectations and establish project goals, timelines, and deliverables
Drive product and process risk identification and resolution
Ensure quality standards are fully integrated throughout the product development process
Evaluate new supplier capabilities and readiness through audits and assessments
Implement quality planning tools within factories and supply chains
Promote and lead continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
Track and report on APQP metrics to cross-functional teams and senior leadership
Communicate process risks and mitigation plans effectively
Support strategic supplier decisions in collaboration with Procurement and Category leaders
Monitor supplier performance, manage escalations, and ensure timely part availability
Foster a culture of accountability by defining and tracking KPIs aligned with organizational goals
What We’re Looking For
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field—or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in quality engineering and continuous improvement, preferably in HVAC or a related industry
Strong knowledge of APQP, project management, and Lean manufacturing principles
PFMA and reliability testing on equipment
Proven hands-on experience with Six Sigma and Lean tools
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Detail-oriented and quality-driven
Travel 25-50%, would expect higher end while onboarding
Preferred:
Certifications in Lean, Kepner-Tregoe, and Six Sigma, Project Management
Experience working in matrix organizations
Familiarity with supplier risk assessments and sourcing strategies
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $97,000-130,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
