General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Finance AI Solutions to work within our GA-ASI Finance Solutions (FS) team in Poway, CA. The person selected for this role will be responsible for leading our Finance & Administration (F&A) group in strategically leveraging emerging technologies in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) space to deliver solutions that drive value to the business through transformative automation. These solutions may include Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Advanced Analytics through Machine Learning (ML), Agentic AI, and standard Data Science.
With the increase in available AI tools and technologies, this role will serve as a key conduit into these rapidly evolving capabilities, identifying and prioritizing AI opportunities, and guiding solution delivery by partnering closely with FS team members, Information Technology Services (ITS), and the business at large. This will include embedding within functional teams to understand how we operate, translating business needs into functional requirements, communicating those requirements to Information Technology technical staff, overseeing development and testing, and leading the rollout, change management, and stabilization of these solutions across the business.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Manages and actively participates in the daily operations of AI application development activities by prioritizing and scheduling work assignments across the team.
- Architects, implements, and monitors AI solutions to ensure applications standards, maximize efficiency, and support platform compatibility; leads and participates in the development, recommendation, and maintenance of policy, practices, and guidelines for responsible AI use.
- Plans and leads activities to protect the company's data, models, tools, and information systems, including data governance and security practices specific to AI/ML pipelines.
- Represents the group as contact with internal and external representatives; makes internal and external presentations on AI capabilities, solutions, and roadmap as required.
- Provides leadership in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of AI/ML and software engineering personnel.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelors degree in Information Technology or a related field and nine or more years of progressive applications experience. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
- Must demonstrate a complete understanding of applications concepts, techniques, and standards, as well as modern AI/ML concepts and solution architecture patterns.
- Must be able to organize, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads and staff to meet established milestones.
- Ability to work on a self-initiated basis and lead in a team environment is essential, as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.

- The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data, and develop innovative AI-enabled solutions to a variety of moderately complex issues.
- Good analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred:
- Strong machine learning foundation across the full model lifecycle (MLOps), including supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, feature engineering, training/tuning, evaluation, and deployment/monitoring. Hands-on experience with regression, classification, ensemble methods (XGBoost, Random Forest), and modern deep learning/transformer architectures for real-world business problems.
- Hands-on experience designing LLM-based applications, Agentic systems and prompt engineering to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Experience building full-stack applications that surface AI capabilities to end users (e.g., Flask/Python back ends, .NET, JavaScript/Chart.js front ends).
- Understanding of data governance, security, and responsible/compliant AI deployment—especially in regulated or defense-adjacent environments.
- Advanced degree or coursework in AI Engineering, Machine Learning, or related discipline.
- Domain knowledge in finance, FP&A, or defense contracting.
