About the Role:  We are looking for an Application Engineer to join our team in Elkton, Maryland.  In this role, you will help grow our dynamic SKYFLEX business and support products that are used globally in aerospace applications. You will work with customers, including large and small OEMs, Military end users, sales, product managers, manufacturing and R&D engineers. You will provide technical support to customers in North America, Europe and some regions of APAC, with deep knowledge of products and understanding of applications.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Leveraging the understanding of aircraft sealant applications to drive the growth of our current SKYFLEX product portfolio in targeted aerospace customers

  • Educating the sales & marketing team and customers on the performance characteristic of the SKYFLEX product portfolio, target applications and installation processes.  Supporting the OEM and Tier 1 customer validation activities to ensure the elements of Fit-For-Use and the customer requirements are met.  Collaborate with the PS on FFU criteria.  

  • Developing product specifications in conjunction with customers through the planning, coordination and testing process 

  • Participating in the development, commercialization, and market introduction of new products.  Support development of marketing materials (brochures, case studies, branding, packaging) 

  • Addressing customer technical issues and drive the resolution of quality issues 

  • Be the primary  point of contact locally and globally for products produced in Appleton East and collaborate within the global SKYFLEX business team  

  • Operating within an aerospace quality system (AS9100) and drive continuous improvement in partnership with the quality and Supply Chain teams 

  • Responding promptly to urgent customer requests for support including quality issues in partnership with operations, sales associates and product specialists.  Drive rapid resolution to these quality issues. 

  • Supporting Process engineering, manufacturing and quality associates in the translation of customer requirements to deliverable items 

Required Qualifications:
  • Engineering or Science degree  in a relevant field (Mechanical Engineering, material science etc.) with at least 3 years working experience 

  • Experience and ability to work with export controlled information (ITAR/EAR/DOD) 

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with and influence across global functional teams to drive business results 

  • Proven ability to extract application requirements and translate into product specifications 

  • Hands-on capabilities to support product demonstrations and trial installation 

  • Competence in tools like project management, quality systems, statistics and market assessment and working knowledge of basic IT and CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage expectations, with internal or external customers 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication, to enable effective virtual teaming. 

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% within North America (potentially also internationally) 

  • Expectation to work from APE plant at least 3 days a week (when not travelling) 

Desired Qualifications:
  • Aircraft maintenance experience
  • Process engineering background and experience working with manufacturing
  • Knowledge of operational environment, specification and materials, and airworthiness regulations for aircraft
