Group/Division

The Global Service Support Organization (GSS) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support. The GSS organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

Group/Division

The Instruments Group is focused on development of advanced inspection and metrology equipment used in high-volume production and research and development environments. Organization is globally located in US, China, and Singapore. The Instruments Group provides mission-critical cost-effective solutions for power electronics, LED, communications, automotive, data storage, and other related nanoelectronics and materials science applications. We partner with our customers to provide advanced hardware and software solutions to enhance yield and lower overall production costs by supplying world-leading inspection, metrology and review systems. In addition to developing valuable product solutions, the Instruments Group provides support to customers to achieve performance entitlement through sharing and implementation of application BKMs (Best Known Methods).

Responsibilities

The applications development engineer will be a key growth enabler for our metrology product lines, which include optical and stylus profilers, sheet resistance measurements and thin film reflectometers product lines. The new hire will support development of new products, sustaining support for existing products, pre/post sale support, and product promotion. The applications development engineer will interface with all aspects of the organization, including engineering, operations, marketing, sales, and service. The engineer will be based at KLA’s headquarters in Milpitas, California, supporting customers around the world, as well as our global engineering teams and operations teams.

The position requires the following responsibilities:

The candidate is required to develop an in-depth expertise in product operation, measurement applications, and customer processes. Support for pre-sale activities that include product demos, product presentations, development of technical papers, and support at trade shows. Support for post-sale activities that include customer training, customer support, understanding customer processes, and development of new use cases. Support new product requirements, alpha (internal) testing, beta (external) testing, and development of product documentation. Support for internal customers such as marketing, service, engineering, and operations.

Preferred Qualifications

New college graduate or early career hire with 1 or more years’ experience in the semiconductor or a related field. It is desired to have a background in scanning probe microscopy, interferometry, confocal, reflectometers, sheet resistance, and/or related optical profiling techniques.

  • Degree in Optics, Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Teamwork is critical so having a good balance between technical skills and people skills is a must.
  • Must have excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Candidate will be required to frequently present results to internal as well as external customers.
  • Excellent English communication is required.

This position requires candidates who are willing to travel up to 25% and international travel is required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Academic) OR Master's Level Degree with at least 3 years of experience OR Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 5 years of experience.
