Summary
Assist in the generation of cost estimates, concept drawings, and written proposals in a timely, professional manner. Provide technical support to the sales staff.
Essential Functions
- Endorses and adheres to sound business practices, ethical behavior, corporate and local policies, and applicable laws.
- Maintains a collaborative work style, presenting a positive and professional attitude and encourage the same in others.
- Promotes team awareness of the latest technological advances and utilizes state-of-the-art technology to produce professional proposals in a timely manner. This may include coordinate and supporting quoting activities with other Doerfer Companies.
- Generates concepts and estimates for custom automated equipment and systems providing technical, processing and automation solutions for customers including safety and security considerations.
- Schedules and conducts brainstorm and estimating meetings and interface with other departments as required for creating proposals and estimates; this may include preparation of oral presentations.
- Participates in project kick-off meetings, as appropriate, and assure that the proposal meets the customer’s scope of work or is otherwise noted, including communication of any deviations of the schedule, ECR, etc.
- Formulates and analyzes customers’ equipment justification utilizing consistent formats for estimates, proposals, and proposal drawings ensuring congruence with internal accepted and approved processes. This may include the determination of machine/system cycle rates and operating efficiencies.
- Understands the technical backgrounds of key engineering personnel for utilization in developing concepts and estimates.
- Provides technical support to the sales staff with customer calls and follow-up.
- Attends appropriate professional and technical development training, including trade shows, as requested
- May direct and train individuals from the same and other classifications.
- Effectively interact with managers, supervisors, and hourly team members across all departments.
- Must be willing to participate in specialized training as assigned by supervisory personnel.
- Understands and complies with requirements of the QMS, AS9100, and/or ISO 9000.
- Travel on an as required basis.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required:
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls automation components and techniques.
- Proficient in oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively interface with a diverse mix of people.
- Possess the ability to perform concept analysis.
- Plan and perform a wide variety of duties.
- An Associate of Applied Science or Technology (AAS/T) (two-year minimum) or Bachelor of Technology degree or equivalent work experience and technical capabilities.
- Experience in generating concepts and estimates
- Working experience or willingness to learn AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and simulation software.
- Competence in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project, computer applications.
- Must be a willing and cooperative employee.
- Must be able to work well with a wide variety of personalities.
- Must be highly self-motivated.
- Must be able to work productively with minimal supervision.
