About the Role:  The Elixir Strings business is looking for a technically minded and creative professional to join the Elixir Strings team as an Applications Engineer located in Elkton, Maryland.  In this role, you will support the manufacturing and technical teams.
 
Responsibilities:​​​​​​
  • Develop a deep understanding of both customer and consumer needs for our existing products
  • Partner with the Product Specialist to validate the fitness for use (FFU) claims of existing and potential products
  • Identify and regularly test the performance of new next best alternatives entering the marketplace
  • Support continuous improvement efforts within manufacturing by representing the customers/consumers requirements of the product
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing team to ensure the voice of the customer is appropriately represented in sales and marketing claims, messaging, selling tools and promotions
  • Support the sales team, customers, and consumers with technical support for existing products to improve the customer’s experience with buying and using our products
  • Identify derivative product development opportunities in alignment with business objectives
  • Leverage application expertise to effectively communicate the differentiation and value of our products both internally and externally while understanding our Intellectual Property
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science and minimum 3 years of experience as an Application Engineer or in a technical role
  • Active guitarist, knowledgeable in guitar repair and maintenance
  • Fundamental knowledge of material science and physics of sound
  • Strong project management skills: ability to break long term projects into associated horizons
  • Demonstrated ability in using a 'quick-to-fail' approach to creative problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate internally with global, cross-functional team and externally with industry partners as well as customers across the value chain
  • Proven ability to design, execute and analyze experiments using statistical methods to support results
  • Proven ability to lead self through technical challenges that present a high degree to uncertainty
  • Proven ability to champion projects involving a cross functional team from inception through completion
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, domestic and international
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience recording audio using DAW’s such as Ableton, ProTools or Logic
  • Previous experience gathering customer insight through various voice of the customer activities
