Job Overview:

Job Summary:

The Application Engineer - Electronics is responsible for specification and designing electrical components for commercial and industrial applications.  Analyzes customer needs then determines requirements, capacity, and cost for developing the product.  Manages design, testing and launch of the manufacturing for electrical products.  Customer interfacing role.

Esssential Functions:

  • Determine project specification or application needs per market/customer input.
  • Analyze electronics system requirements, cost, or customer needs to determine project feasibility.
  • Recommend design modifications of electronics components or systems, based on factors such as environment, service, cost, or system capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, customers, vendors, or others to discuss existing or potential electronic engineering projects or products.
  • Evaluate project work to ensure effectiveness, technical adequacy, or compatibility in the resolution of complex electronics engineering problems.
  • Develop and/or perform operational testing procedures for electronic products, components, equipment, or systems.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform electronics engineering tasks.
  • Prepare documentation containing information such as confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software, product development or introduction schedules, product costs, or information about product performance weaknesses.
  • Prepare engineering sketches or specifications for products or systems.
  • Plan or develop applications or modifications for electronic properties used in components, products, or systems to improve technical performance.
  • Direct or coordinate activities concerned with manufacture, construction, installation, maintenance, operation, or modification of electronic products or systems.
  • Prepare cost estimates for projects.
  • Provide technical support to internal engineering or customers regarding electronic products and operations.
  • Inspect electronic equipment, instruments, products, or systems to ensure conformance to specifications, safety standards, or applicable codes or regulations.
  • Prepare, review, or maintain maintenance schedules, design documentation, or operational reports or charts.
  • Design electronic components, software, products, or systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, or scientific applications

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of displays (LCD’s, TFT’s, Seven Segment LED’s), Connector pins, Networks (Ethernet, CAN, Blue Tooth, WIFI, RS 232, RS 485, etc.)
  • Operating System knowledge
  • Has HMI screen navigation and HMI screen design knowledge at product functionality level
  • Experience directing Endurance Testing standards for electronic products

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar type of role

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Working knowledge of electronic displays and CanBus J1939 protocol

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be able to work outside of standard business hours to participate on calls/ in meetings with team members located in other countries
  • Must be able to travel outside normal business hours/ days and have overnight stays

Physical Demands/ Equipment used to perform the job:

  • Must be able to climb stairs and walk through manufacturing facilities with uneven floors, fluctuating temperatures and moving machinery
