Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect returned appliances and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, or component failures and determine the root cause of the problem.
- Diagnose equipment using mechanical and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
- Determine whether returned products can be repaired, refurbished, reused, or must be scrapped.
- Repair and refurbish returned products by replacing defective or damaged components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and other diagnostic equipment to complete repairs.
- Test repaired products to verify proper operation and ensure they meet quality standards.
- Identify recurring product failures and communicate findings to Technical Support and Quality teams.
- Remove and recover usable service parts and components from products designated for scrap.
- Assist with product disposition, including re-boxing repaired products and processing unusable products for scrap.
- Inspect incoming products for damage, defects, or quality concerns.
- Assist with product rework and quality improvement projects.
- Perform detailed product inspections, including verification of labels, manufacturing dates, lot numbers, model information, and other specifications.
- Accurately document inspection findings, repairs, failures, and product information.
- Use Microsoft Excel to enter information, track findings, and prepare basic reports.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow established safety and quality procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in appliance repair, appliance service, equipment repair, maintenance, electromechanical repair, manufacturing repair, or a similar hands-on technical position preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate repairs.
- Experience replacing mechanical and electrical components.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read basic wiring diagrams, schematics, or technical service information is preferred.
- Basic Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document findings.
- Ability to lift approximately 60–80 pounds.
- Associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field is a plus but not required with relevant hands-on experience.
