The Opportunity:
Under the General direction of the Manager/Supervisor, the Lab Technician applies knowledge and skills to perform diverse and complex laboratory procedures. Also, the Lab Technician position will perform specialized, technical, and administrative services requiring application of equivalent technical knowledge in a quality control laboratory. Along with the above, the Lab Technician is responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect, assuring the quality and quantity of products.
What You’ll Do:
- Ensure finished products meet MeriCal and customer quality standards.
- Understand and perform basic testing calculations; ability to identify and resolve incorrect calculations and process the calculations manually if necessary. Recognize data inconsistencies before uploading any and all testing required.
- Recognize priority conflicts of testing; prioritize and communicate test schedules to customers' if necessary and have the ability to multi-tasks and able to run multiple tests at at time.
- Ability to perform routine troubleshooting and repair on tests and equipment.
- Must be able to clearly articulate and communicate testing issues with co-worker(s), immediate supervisor. Provide timely status updates upon request.
- Ability to communicate to the customers on any and all special requests and to follow up on all customer questions or concerns.
- Conduct quality tests following approved methods and cGMP/SOP/GLP guidelines.
- Enter, upload test data into Excel, or other MeriCal software's and create COAs.
- Facilitate sample flow between work area and other areas in the department. Communicate issues to appropriate personnel.
- Must be pro-active in safety and housekeeping along with environmental concerns as needed to maintain a highly efficient and safe work environment.
- Must be able to maintain thorough documentation and associated information following all FDA guidelines.
- Performs routine sample testing involving processing samples for chemical and/or biological analyses.
- Sets up, dismantles instruments and apparatus. Prepares specialized solutions/suspensions such as mobile phases or media to perform essential laboratory procedures.
- Makes and records observations, perform calculations, collects, and prepares data for evaluation.
- Reports results of assignments, maintains and performs related record keeping functions.
- Participates in designing and conducting investigational studies of atypical results.
- Complies with company policies and procedures and maintains regular work attendance.
- Personal responsibility for following all safety rules, SOP and cGMP guidelines.
What You’ll Bring:
- 3 to 5 years working as a production supervisor, preferably in FDA packaging environment.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology or related field.
- Industry experience with 1-3 years of lab experience equivalent.
- Experience in a vitamin manufacturing industry working in QC with an emphasis in a Wet Lab working environment.
- General knowledge and/or awareness of FDA guidelines preferred.
- Computer skills necessary to record, analyze, report, and communicate all pertaining information as needed to the appropriate personnel.
- Must possess time management skills and be able to multi-tasks in a high-volume high-profile department.
- Must have good level of organizational and documentation skills, good written and oral communication skills and be able to accept and work shifting priorities as deemed necessary by customer demands.
- Analytical and titration lab coursework is considered a plus.
- Method Development/Validation experience a plus.
- Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines to meet customer demands.

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $26.00-$29,00. The compensation offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and/or education.
