Purpose:
Under general supervision, uses build sheets to assemble components for build-to-sales order configurations and performs a wide variety of related mechanical assembly duties on prototype units.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform Alignments and GIGs in Final Assembly
- Obtain work instructions from the Build Book program on the computer to assemble all required parts in preparation for beginning of scheduled assembly project.
- Follow engineering drawings, bills of materials and request parts from the Parts Department as required.
- Lay out truck details per engineering prints on a job-by-job basis.
- Perform final assembly of all units, including hoods, electric, lights, stickers to customers specifications.
- Connect hydraulic lines and fills such with oil in preparation for required testing.
- Prepare trucks for sub-frame assembly by disassembling, measuring, repositioning parts, installing parts and re-assemble unit by following procedures.
- Test the assembled parts or products to ensure they are functioning properly and are of good quality.
- Comply with workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices and procedures.
- Maintain tools and the workspace in good condition.
- May perform reasonably similar or related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Physical Demands:
- Perform repetitive work while moving around, under, and over equipment while on the production floor 95% of the time.
- Perform work outdoors in all-weather 5% of the time.
Education/Skills/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- Formal training beyond high school (certification or associate degree in auto repair), preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience
- Previous experience with heavy mechanical equipment, preferred.
- Familiarity with and understanding of hydraulic, electrical, gas and diesel systems.
- Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read blueprints, hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with computers to look up work instructions, track labor and other tasks as needed.
