Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) Division provides industry leading metrology solutions for worldwide semiconductor IC manufacturers. The FaST Division portfolio of metrology products includes hardware and software solutions for optical film thickness, optical critical dimension (CD), composition, and resistivity measurement systems. These products are essential for the IC manufacturers as they provide critical metrology capabilities for the development and implementation of their advanced IC processes. The FaST division is committed to support our customers to achieve performance entitlement of our solution and we effectively partner with our customers from their early research and development phase to the high volume in-line manufacturing implementation specific for their process needs. The division consists of a global team located in US, Israel, China, and India.

This job opportunity is in a highly diverse yet highly cohesive group of scientists and software engineers, with broad responsibilities and with direct impact on product success.

  • The group is responsible for developing algorithm solutions to some of the most challenging problems in optical metrology, applied to semiconductor process control.
  • The main areas of responsibility for this job are: developing algorithms to enable higher levels of quality in measuring dimensions and compositions of nanoscale films and structures encountered in semiconductor device manufacturing process, implementing these algorithms within the established architecture of a highly reliable numeric library; working with hardware engineers and application scientists to resolve algorithm-related issues.
  • In addition to its main focus, this job offers the opportunity for learning different aspects of algorithm-centric software development in corporate settings, with the option to dive deeper into such areas as software architecture, high performance computing, system engineering and machine learning. Travel requirements for this position are minimal.

Required qualifications

  • Master's Degree, or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of work experience.
  • A degree in Physics, Applied Mathematics or a related field
  • Proficiency in C++ and object-oriented programming, debugging techniques, and scientific data presentation.
  • Good English communication skills

Desired qualifications

  • Good knowledge in some of the following areas: optics, optical scatterometry, electromagnetic wave propagation in layered media, electromagnetic material properties, semiconductor materials, signal processing, nonlinear optimization, linear algebra
  • The ability to develop time-efficient C++ implementations of numeric algorithms
  • Experience of application development using Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Good problem-solving skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree, or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of work experience.
  • A degree in Physics, Applied Mathematics or a related field
  • Proficiency in C++ and object-oriented programming, debugging techniques, and scientific data presentation.
  • Good English communication skills
