Job Description
You will be the Aircraft Structural Mechanic for the SOF GLSS team. Our team is responsible for delivering high‑impact structural maintenance and repair services that sustain critical rotary‑wing platforms for Special Operations Forces.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Aircraft Structural Mechanic 1, you will be responsible for performing structural modifications, damage assessments, and repairs on both flight‑line and depot aircraft.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Perform structural modifications using riveting, fastening, trimming, sanding, bonding, and composite repair techniques.
- Conduct damage assessments, corrosion removal, treatment, and preventative maintenance to extend airframe life.
- Fabricate, install, and replace sheet‑metal and composite panels, fairings, and structural parts per engineering drawings.
- Interpret engineering drawings, repair manuals, and service bulletins while accurately documenting work in maintenance logs.
- Execute structural repairs at both flight‑line and depot levels.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. A company‑sponsored interim Secret clearance is required to start.
Basic Qualifications
What You Bring
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical orders, service bulletins, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
• Ability to accurately record repairs, inspections, and modifications in maintenance logs, modification and production instructions, and military documentation systems.
• Ability to execute structural repairs at both flight‑line and depot levels.
• Capability to safely jack, tow, and handle aircraft and large components; physical ability to perform the required labor.
• Effective teamwork and independent work habits, with readiness for varying shift structures and travel.
• Must possess or be eligible for the required security clearance.
• Candidate MUST have the ability to travel as dictated by mission needs and customer support.
Desired skills
Nice to Have Skills
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification or equivalent military/defense maintenance credentials.
• Aircraft Experience: CH/MH-47, UH/MH-60, MD-500 / AH/MH-6, AH-64, OH-58D, or other Service Rotary Wing assets. Expertise in performing troubleshooting, dimensional checks, repairing, and overhauling components.
• Experience with sheet‑metal fabrication, riveting, and welding.
• Experience with composite repairs (bonding, layup, patching).
• Experience with High‑precision work with tight tolerances.
• Ability to fabricate/repair structural spare parts and assemblies.
• This role will require occasional or regular travel to support mission needs and customer support.

Ability to work remotely
Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
