Job Summary:

Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) is looking for an experienced senior engineer to serve as the Program Area Chief Engineer (PACE) for the Air Dominance (AD) Product Area in Tucson, Arizona location. The candidate will report directly to the Air Power (AP) Mission Area Chief Engineer (MACE) and is accountable for technical execution on AD programs.

Additionally, the AD Program Area Chief Engineer is one of the senior Engineering representatives in this location and a member of the AD leadership team. In this role, the Candidate is accountable for the technical efforts of RMD Engineers to ensure efficient engineering execution and rapid resolution of technical issues. The candidate interfaces with Mission Area and Program Chief Engineers, Engineering Directors and Engineering Department Leads to resolve issues and actions. The candidate in this role is also responsible for technical trades across AD to meet performance, cost and schedule. The role will also work on strategic initiatives that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of RMD program engineering within their strategic mission area.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Technical oversight of all Engineering work in the AD portfolio and ultimate responsibility for the technical execution of work spanning the directorates
  • Ensures the right level of execution of engineering process and engineering discipline
  • Facilitates the technical development of Engineering personnel
  • Orchestrates the engineering response to technical issues in AD Program Area, staffing needs and skills balance across all programs

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Typically requires 12+ year’s professional experience in aerospace/defense industry.
  • Experience leading large multi-disciplinary teams of Engineers
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a complex environment
  • Experience defining and driving technical execution plans
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher

Qualifications We Value:

  • Professional experience in aerospace/defense industry with emphasis on Command & Control systems
  • Software and/or networking experience
  • Experience mentoring and apprenticing junior engineers
