Position Summary:

The multi-site Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of maintenance tasks to support operational uptime, safety, and efficiency across multiple facilities, including egg processing, poultry and cattle farming operations, feed mill, and general property & grounds. This role requires flexibility, a hands-on mindset, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team across various environments. To support critical operations, the technician will also participate in an on-call rotation during nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure timely response to urgent needs. Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on facility and production equipment, including motors, conveyors, processing lines, HVAC systems, boilers, air compressors, and other mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues, including reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC interfaces.
  • Perform welding and fabrication duties as needed using MIG, TIG, or arc welders.
  • Maintain and repair agricultural systems such as feed delivery equipment, ventilation, lighting, and water lines in poultry houses.
  • Conduct general facility maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, tiling, painting, lighting, and grounds upkeep.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, hoists, and various hand/power tools; must become certified to operate equipment as needed.
  • Document all work performed using work orders and PM software; assist with tracking and troubleshooting reoccurring issues.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and food safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, GMPs, SQF, EMS, OSHA, USDA, and FDA guidelines.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies, minimizing equipment downtime and maintaining business continuity.
  • Work flexibly across shifts, weekends, and multiple locations based on business needs and project demands.
  • Support installation and startup of new equipment and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
  • Operate yard and farm equipment including mowers, tractors (with implements), weed eaters, blowers, etc…

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED; Technical certificate or degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a multi-trade maintenance role (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry or ag-related preferred)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose and repair systems independently
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, and use of industrial tools
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems basic and PLC’s
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics
  • Familiarity with food safety, manufacturing, agriculture operations, and regulatory standards
  • Computer literate; Able to use maintenance tracking systems and basic Microsoft Office systems
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces and heights, and perform physically demanding tasks in indoor and outdoor environments
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage shifting priorities across facilities
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Must be familiar with applicable OSHA safety rules
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. CDL is preferred.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 


Computer Skills:

Must be proficient using various computer software systems including MS Office and Outlook.

The employee frequently is required to stand and climb or balance. The employee will periodically work at varying heights up to 120 feet. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

• Must be able to adapt to office work environments which could include cold or heat. Individual will be exposed to high noise levels. 

• Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour 

• Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, weather, odor and other environment specific atmospheres.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to dust, fumes and airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
