Position:
Operate all functions of the continuous mixer. Focus on meeting safety, quality standards and expected productivity levels.
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills and Experience:
- Past experience which demonstrates “hands on” mechanical/technical aptitude.
- Experience with the operations of plastics extrusion equipment (preferred, but not necessary). Extrusion process training offered.
- Ability to learn new processes quickly and troubleshoot difficulties while upholding quality standards.
- Ability to operate all quality equipment as required. (Moisture / Ash /Particle Size / PPA / APA / Tensile). Training provided.
- Hyster and Pallet Jack (tugger) certification (internal training required).
- Competent computer skills (specific software application training provided).
- Ability to use a calculator to determine machine changes to bring a product to the center line.
- 5S Training. White Belt.
Essential duties:
- Safety.
- Must Follow all safety rules.
- Understands the use of PPE. (Emphasis on Heated Areas/ Material Handling)
- Understands the proper use of Pivot Gates. Loading / Working at Elevated Heights.
- Hyster and Pallet Jack (tugger) certification (internal training required).
- Working in non-climate controlled conditions.
- Material Staging / Reporting.
- Proper base materials, concentrates, and regrinds pulled for the lines.
- Maintaining the material needs to the continuous mixers throughout the shift.
- Weighing up boxes and drums after recipe changes and inventory them.
- Maintaining inventory of all components, production supplies, raw materials, and material supplies (banding of boxes, bags, lids, etc.)
- Responsible for receiving material.
- Collect gaylord box or super sacks of material. Label appropriately. Record in AS400 / MESr or JDE System.
- Understand, and follow work instructions. Make suggestions for improvements or revisions as needed.
- Perform product testing using specified procedures and testing equipment. (Moisture / Ash / Particle Size / PPA / APA / Tensile). Enter test data into MESr.
- Assist in supplying all retains or samples as required by Control Plan with appropriate recorded information.
- Recognize quality problems based on QA date, visual inspections, process monitoring, etc. and make appropriate corrective actions.
- Machine
- Coordinate and assist in line set-up and changeovers.
- Use quality data results to make machinery adjustments to bring product to center line.
- Set Up and operate manufacturing equipment within the specified limits of the appropriate center line.
- Assist in operating all functions of assigned production lines, maintaining quality and productivity standards.
- Set up additive equipment to process based on density calculation and keep filled.
- Follow established die change and die cleaning intervals.
- Understands how to properly use a torque wrench and bolt tightening patterns.
- Assist team members through the change-over process efficiently and thoroughly, which includes activities involved with tear-downs, die cleaning, set-ups and product testing / separation (if needed).
- Relieve for breaks. Cover for job functions and ensure that qualified personnel are available to cover production.
- Assist with R&D and continuous improvement projects, as assigned or available.
- Demonstrate ability to properly start-up / shutdown continuous mixer.
- Complete all other projects and tasks assigned by Production Supervisor or other member of management.
Physical Demands:
- Lifting 50 lbs repeatedly during the assigned work shift.
- Able to climb 100 foot Silo.
Work Environment:
- Non-Climate Controlled Environment,
- Works on Multi-Floor Mezzanine.
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts.
